Zero to Drone - 11am

Think we can build a Drone in an hour? We're going to find out.

Watch as we take disparate parts and build a fully functional flying machine. Get up close and personal as we expertly assemble arms and propellers, solder wiring together and add the crucial electronic flight equipment that brings it all together. If you've always wondered how Drones are put together, or even if you've built robots before, you'll want to see this speed build. And make sure to stick around when we demonstrate how it really flies!

Drone Challenge - 1pm

We're bringing PDX's best drone pilots together into the Drone Cage to battle head to head in our skill testing obstacle course. 10 pilots will enter, but only one will emerge victorious and walk away with our fabulous prize package (we'll have prizes for individual accomplishments as well). Each challenge event tests pilot's skills in navigation, precision, calm under pressure and time management.

What? You don't know any Drone pilots? Meet them in real life as they explain how they got started in this fascinating and exciting hobby, how they built their machines.

Flight demonstrations

Throughout the day we'll conduct flight demonstrations of the latest hobbyist Drones. You'll get to meet the pilots and get up close and personal with the Drones themselves. Don't worry they won't bite. You'll learn about their capabilities and what missions are well suited for each machine.

Who's involved?

PDXDrones Challenge is a collaboration between PDXDrones, TechFestNW and Dialsmith.
