Team Day 2 - 2020

*For Primary and P5 & Under - all teams must be made up from players who live in Edinburgh, Lothians and the Borders. *

Players can only play for clubs if their school isn't entering a team.

Number of Players

There are 4 boards per team. The maximum number of players in a team is 6, the minimum is 3. If you have space on your team we may be able to fill it with an individual entrant. Please let us know if you would like us to do that.

Timings

Please ensure your teams arrive at the venue by 9:15am for a 9:30am start. with prize giving ending around 4:30pm.

How to enter

Team entries are £25, if paid for before 11pm on Monday the 27th January, £30 thereafter. Teams can pay on the day using the code 'PAYONDAY'

Individual entries are £7, if paid for before 11pm on Monday the 27th January, £8 thereafter. Individuals must pay online only and must live in The Lothian and Borders Region.

*Children who are in receipt of Free School Meals can enter for free. *

For team entries: please use the code FSM1, FSM2, FSM3 or FSM4 to indicate the number of children in receipt of free school meals in a team. For individual entries: please use the code FSM.

Entries will close at 11pm on Friday 31st January, or earlier if we reach capacity.

Please provide team details as soon as possible and by Friday 31st January at the latest

If "Join the waiting list" is shown, for the entry type you want, then please join it! We will do our best to find a way for you to play. For individual entries we want to make sure there's a team for you before we take your entry fee.

If you have space on your team that you would like us to try and fill, then please let us know. Having an outside player will mean that you're not eligible for the Schools Shield, but you'd still be eligible to win the main Shield and you'd get individual shields/medals if you were placed.

Additional Information

You are allowed to bring more than 4 players - up to 6 players. In the event of a team winning a trophy - we may request a contribution to cover the costs of the extra trophy.

Teams are expected to play in order of strength, and maintain that order throughout the day.

Players are only supervised in the playing hall so must have adult supervision for other times.

All games are Chess Scotland graded. Primary sections are Main graded and secondary are allegro graded.
