The Quest for Cold Harbour

Join us on The Quest for Cold Harbour - the haunted house at the heart of a largely forgotten ghost story written by once bestselling British author Francis Brett Young (1884-1954). This walk by literary detectives Clive Judd and James Glover kicks off Walkspace's Autumn Season.

Steeped as it is in the landscape, folklore and local history of his beloved Black Country home, we'll strike out together in search of Brett Young’s 'Cold Harbour’, uncovering the part real, part imagined locations that informed this extraordinary and atmospheric work of West Midlands psychogeography. We'll cross between urban and rural landscape and travel backwards and forwards in time as we trace the uncanny scars and weirded faultlines of this unforgettable region; a place forever altered by its industrial past and underpinned by a much deeper, much stranger history. And perhaps, somewhere along the way, we may find ourselves haunted by spectres of ourselves too…?
