UCSD Carpentries Bootcamp Workshop: Python, Unix Shell, & Git (In-person)

Topics: Introduction to Python, the Unix Shell, and Version Control with Git

A 4-Day Carpentries Bootcamp workshop aims to teach participants basic concepts, skills, and tools for Python in Jupyter Notebook, an introduction to the Unix Shell, and Version Control with Git. This workshop is designed for researchers and enables non-experts to develop computing skills for research analysis. This is a free workshop.

Programming in Python:

  • Using libraries
  • Working with arrays
  • Reading and plotting data
  • Creating and using functions
  • Loops and conditionals

Workshop Details:

  • Dates: October 3rd - 6th, 2022
  • Times: 9am - 12pm
  • Location: Geisel Library - Events Room (G1E)

This workshop is open to all UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty. 

A UCSD Co-Curricular of Record (CCR) activity recognition will be given to UCSD registered students who:

  • Attend and participate in all sessions
  • Pass the post-workshop quiz

To be eligible for the CCR activity recognition, please register using your full name and UCSD email.

Due to limited seating, we ask that you cancel your registration 2 days prior to the event if you are unable to attend. This will open a slot for other potential participants.
