ASYLUM

Having spent 10 years entrenched in bass music as part of infamous London-based drum & bass collective Vicious Circle, Asylum (real name Andrew Greening) was no stranger to the low end sonics of dubstep when he decided to experiment with the tempo in 2011. The resulting single - 'Not Afraid' / 'Hibernation' - was an instant favourite amongst DJs everywhere, with immediate support from the likes of Youngsta on Rinse FM, and Skream & Benga on BBC Radio 1. Longtime friend and musical comrade Ben Verse of Pendulum snapped up the tracks for his Crunch Recordings imprint, identifying the same Blue Note-era Metalheadz-esque qualities in the tracks that had also attracted him to the deeper side of the 140bpm tempo.

An alias switch up, and second single followed - this time for dubstep stalwart Seven's Uprise Audio label. Another veteran from the drum & bass scene, Seven zeroed on in 'Blindfold', which was already enjoying the support of DJs from J:Kenzo to V.I.V.E.K. The driving bass and hypnotic samples in Blindfold infamously took the roof off of V.I.V.E.K's System party, with the crowd baying for a rewind. 'Salvage' was chosen for the flip and the single was released to much acclaim at the end of 2012, entering the Beatport top ten Dubstep tracks and being chosen by Beatport as a 'Track of the Day'.

Asylum opened his account for 2013 very strongly, with a five track monster - 'Germinate EP'. His return to Crunch Recordings saw support from all corners of the scene, including radio play on BBC Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM and has been a staple in the sets of Youngsta, Skream, Seven, N-Type, TRUTH, Icicle and many others. Included was a collaboration with bass partner Ben Verse 'Blue Dream', which has torn up dance floors around the world, and 'Bodyburn', the incendiary vocal of which has been a calling card for virtually every Youngsta set for over a year. A six month stint in the US saw Asylum touching down in various cities for a string of performances, including one at TRUTH's Deep, Dark & Dangerous night in San Francisco alongside London-based accomplice V.I.V.E.K, and NYC's Subverse with veteran collaborators Kryptic Minds. His latest offering 'Zero Gravity', the highest chart entry from Uprise Audio's 'Live From The Future' package, also entered the Beatport top ten Dubstep tracks, and was subsequently chosen as a Beatport 'must hear track' on it's week of release.

With an increasing legion of followers both in Europe and the US, and a bag of new tracks - including ventures back into 170bpm territory - it appears Asylum is a name that will be ringing out from sound systems everywhere in the months to come...

DECO

Deco is a Los Angeles-based producer who makes bass-driven electronic music with a touch of soul. From dub to techno to downtempo and songs that defy classification, Deco’s style always comes with ample amounts of vibe, whether its deep and contemplative or techy and driving. Rooted in the underground days of drum & bass and dubstep, Deco wears his influences on his sleeve and blends the sounds of yesteryear with today’s styles and production standards.

With over a dozen singles, remixes and EPs credited to his name, Deco has been creating music below the radar for several years. Prior to getting the studio bug, he DJ’d in clubs and on radio throughout the 2000s, holding positions as a Music Director for WRAS Atlanta 88.5FM, America’s highest-wattage college radio station and serving as a resident DJ for Insomniac, America’s largest promoter of dance music events like Electric Daisy Carnival.

In 2009, Deco established Deceast, a record label to serve as an outlet for music created by himself and a small circle of friends. Championing a quality-over-quantity approach, Deceast puts out a limited number of releases each year comprised of only the best in bass music. Since being established as a label, the Deceast brand has expanded into radio and live events, with a bi-weekly radio show on SubFM and periodic club events held in and around Los Angeles.

Deco has just released "Timescales", a stunning long-player on Deceast, and is currently touring to promote his unique sound!
