SGVUX5 How Experience Designers are the New Event Planners

It’s summer, and there are a lot of events to go to! We have graduation ceremonies to attend, vacation trips to plan, and holiday parties to host with family and friends! Attending these events can be fun, but a lot of thought must put in the event's design.

  • Is this a professional or personal event?
  • Who is attending the event, and is it accessible to everyone?
  • What is the purpose of the event, and what value does it hold?

Whether we’re talking about a patient’s journey through the medical system, from getting sick to seeing the doctor, through to treatment and adherence, or an attendee’s journey through a user conference, from awareness, to registration, schedules, presentations, breakouts and networking, understanding and mindfully designing for the journey is everything.

Through a hands-on workshop focused on design thinking activities, we will look at the phases of an event and identify and design a better event experience — before, during and after the event. You will walk away with practical experience creating an experience map, defining personas, and even planning a design event!
