SGVUX.10 Building Immersive UX: Escape Rooms

We're going to the Exodus Escape Room in Rancho Cucamonga for a SPECIAL, PRIVATE ESCAPE ROOM EVENT.

What can an escape room teach us about user experience?

An escape room is basically a real-life game where you and your friends are locked in a room and the game master introduces the background and context -- why you're locked in the room and what you need to do to get out. A timer is set and you'll have to work with your group to find clues (information seeking), solve puzzles (task analysis), and make sense of the information you find (concept modeling) to eventually escape from that room.

You'll have a chance to choose from 3 different themes to experience a room, get a behind-the-scenes tour of the rooms, and Q&A with game designers/developers.

Food and drinks provided!

Additional Information

What is an escape room?

Each room has a series of clues you must use to unlock the final key to escape—you and your group will have 60 minutes to complete the task! The more players you have—the better your chances of escape!

You don't need to bring anything or have any prior experience to have fun. Just good communication, systems thinking, and idea generation (gasp oh my! good skills to find in a good UX designer!) to solve the puzzles!

About EXODUS ESCAPE ROOM

Exodus Escape Room (https://exodusescaperoom.com/) is one of America’s original Escape Room companies. Now a nationwide phenomenon, we face you off against our team of master puzzle designers. Do you have the smarts and the teamwork to match them? There’s only one way to find out!

A sixty minute, adrenaline-fueled adventure, powered by ingenuity and out-of-the-box thinking. Exodus Escape Room is ideal for families, friends, companies, and parties. We have rooms appropriate to all ages and experience levels. Assemble your team and play with us today!

Am I really going to be "locked" in a room?

Yes and no! You will be in a room with a locked door, but if at any time you feel the need to leave the room, you are welcome to.

How long is each game?

Each game is designed for sixty minutes of intense fun! Plan to spend 15 minutes prior to each game preparing and briefing and 15 minutes after each game to debrief and take photos.

What happens if we don’t escape in time?

The games are challenging and some groups may not get out in time. At the end of 60 minutes, the game master will “unlock” the room and let you out. This is a great time to ask questions and discuss your journey.

Will there be food?

In addition to a sneak peek at how the games are designed, Exodus Escape Room will also be providing sandwich trays and beverages! Thank you Exodus Escape Room!

Who should come? Can I bring my kids?

Anyone and everyone are welcome! If you love escape rooms, come join us! If you're not in UX, that's fine too! The more various backgrounds the teams have, the more fun we'll all have.

Bring your kids if you want to and they can join the conversation if they want to. If your kids are participating in the escape room, please know that they will also have to purchase a ticket.

What does my registration fee include?

Admission helps cover the escape room costs, food & drinks, digital & marketing expenses for this volunteer-led community. If you like this event and want more, please help us support it!
