Andy Irvine - Live at the Queens
Legendary Andy Irvine is coming to play at The Queens. A renowned Irish musician whose career spans decades, marked by success and influence. He has performed solo, with legendary groups like Planxty, Patrick Street, and Mozaik, and continues to enchant audiences worldwide. Beginning his journey in 1965 with Sweeney’s Men, Irvine explored Balkan music during travels in Bulgaria, Romania, and Yugoslavia, adopting the bouzouki to develop his unique style.
Returning to Ireland, he co-founded Planxty with Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, and Liam O’Flynn, helping revitalise traditional Irish music. After a stint with Paul Brady and a duo album, Irvine formed Mozaik in 2002, a band featuring international musicians, with whom he’s toured extensively. He also helped form Patrick Street, releasing numerous albums with the group.
Irvine’s dedication to music is evident through his ongoing tours with Mozaik and Patrick Street, as well as reunion concerts with Planxty and Brady. His passion and influence make him a living icon in Irish music, ensuring his legacy endures for years to come.
