Talk: Pitching Your Team to Candidates

The tech industry has more jobs than people - how do you convince someone to join your team vs. others where they may be interviewing? How do you pitch your team, your problem space, your work environment, your opportunity to someone? You may have a 30-minute sales call or an hour-long interview - this talk will cover some basic steps to keep in mind when you’re speaking to candidates.

Speaker: Glenna Buford (Engineering Manager at 8fit)

Talk: From IC to EM: navigating the management path

This talk aims to give tips and tricks for transitioning from an Individual Contributor to an Engineering Manager based on my personal experience. For those who are curious about what it entails to be an Engineering Manager, this can help you look out for characteristics in your current and future engineering managers, or help you make decisions in the future about becoming one.
