Additional Information

18:00 Doors open, pizza is served with drinks (don't be late!)

19:00 Understanding Azure Regions, Data Centres, Availability Zones, Availability Sets and more

Do you know your data centres from your regions? Why is North Europe in west Europe? What the heck is a Germany West Central? Why can I not replicate from Norway East to Norway West?

Comprehending the fundamentals is essential. Understanding the geography of Microsoft Azure helps you plan for compliance, disaster recovery, high availability, and optimised performance.

In this session Aidan will discuss the regions, data centres, and how they build for high availability ... but not in the ways that you might expect!

20:00 Designing Secure Azure Networks

Azure's software-defined networks and PaaS/IaaS resources differ greatly from those of on-premises cable-oriented networks and physical appliances. Therefore, the designs and architectures should be very different - especially if one intends to defend against modern attacks such as advanced persistent threats (APTs).

In this session Aidan will teach attendees how Azure networks work, how to combine components to create secure access to and integrations between services and data, and how to architect networks that best use the features of Azure.
