Blockchain meets Data Privacy

Hosted by Dr. Jörg Kaufmann, LL.M

The new European General Data Protection Regulation poses significant challenges to the development and implementation of blockchain technologies. Some have gone so far as to describe the subjection of blockchain technology (including cryptocurrencies and smart contracts) to data privacy regulations in terms of a collision with disastrous consequences. Yet whilst GDPR imposes limitations on blockchain technology, it also has the potential to open an array of possibilities for blockchain precisely as a means of data privacy. Join Dr. Jörg Kaufmann, LL.M, partner with the Berlin law firm Waldenberger Rechtsanwälte, as he takes a closer look at the intricacies of the blockchain/GDPR connection. Dr Kaufmann has more than ten years of experience in data privacy law, a doctorate in contract law, and a masters in corporate law. He is the founder of TechLaw~Talks Berlin and presenter of the highly successful episodes on commercial drones and the law.
