TCD Association Scotland - Summer Visit 2018

This year's Summer Outing of the TCD Association Scotland will be in Dublin on Friday 17th August. The outing will include visits to Iveagh House, the National Gallery of Ireland and the new Seamus Heaney Exhibition in the Bank of Ireland Culture & Heritage Centre on College Green. Friends and family will be very welcome to join.

Iveagh House is one of Dublin’s architectural splendours, situated at 79-80 Stephen’s Green and not usually open to the public. The original house was built for Bishop Clayton in 1736, subsequently owned by Earls of Mountcashel and then bought by Benjamin Guinness (grandson of Arthur) in 1856. Over three generations the house was extended and extensively redesigned and had the reputation as a venue for splendid entertainment. In the 1930s the house was gifted by the Guinness family to the Irish Nation. It is now the headquarters for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the magnificent rooms are used for important receptions and to mark visits from dignitaries and heads of state.

Those attending this outing should make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. There is an administrative charge of £10 per person for this event, to be paid to the TCD Association Scotland. Please scroll down for the excursion schedule and details of how to register. as well as associated ticket prices for each stop (payable on the day).

If you would like to join this outing, please email Eamonn Wall at consultants@eamonnwall.co.uk. Please note that numbers for the visit to Iveagh House are limited to 30, so book your place early to avoid disappointment!
