TCD Alumni West Country Branch - Annual Lunch Party 2018

Date: Sunday 23rd September 2018, 12noon | Venue: Kings Weston House, Bristol

Please contact Douglas Henderson (tcdwest@yahoo.co.uk) to join the West Country Alumni Branch for their annual lunch party, which this year will be held in the magnificent surroundings of Kings Weston House. Beautifully restored after some years of neglect, this is sure to be a splendid location for a delightful 2-course lunch and a wander around the lovely parkland.

The full cost of this meal is £37.50 per head, which includes a two-course hot meal with a choice of two options for each course. The meal will be seated, but served buffet-style. An approximate timetable for the afternoon can be found below.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Gerard McHugh (Associate Professor of Accounting and Dean of Development at Trinity College Dublin) will be giving a speech following the meal. Spouses are more than welcome to attend and we encourage you to let anybody who might be interested in this event know about it as soon as possible.

RSVPs will be accepted until 15th September

EVENT INFORMATION

Date: Sunday 23rd September 2018

Venue: Kings Weston House, Kings Weston Ln, Bristol BS11 0UR

Cost: £37.50 per head.

Timetable:

12.00–12.15pm: Assemble for pre-lunch drinks in the glorious sunshine, in the secret garden (which you didn't see last year - either the sunshine or the garden).

1.00pm: A two-course  lunch, plus cheese and coffee or tea, with wine and soft drinks (beer if you tell me in advance).

3.00pm: address by our guest speaker, Professor Gerard McHugh (see above).

At any time, wandering in the lovely grounds with views over the Severn (and rather less lovely industrial Avonmouth) is encouraged! Bristol cleverly parked its industry a few miles to the West many years ago ...    A note on guests: Spouses are most welcome (one graduate told me this was not always so. In olden times – apparently, dinners etc were strictly for graduates only), as are fellow alumni from other UK branches.
