About the RAF Burtonwood Heritage centre

Burtonwood was the largest airfield in Europe during the war, with the most USAAF personnel and aircraft maintenance facilities. The roar of the engines could be heard for miles around, especially at night. By the end of the war 18,000 servicemen were stationed at Burtonwood.

Burtonwood Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving the memory of the men and women who served the allied effort through WWII and beyond at the largest air base in the European theatre during the war.
