Open Source Bridge 10 Year Celebration

Celebrate 10 years of Open Source Bridge with a 1-Day Unconference and Party!

Additional Information

This year will be the final year for Open Source Bridge. We’ve had an amazing decade with all of you exploring the ways open source is part of our work and lives!

Open Source Bridge has always been run by a dedicated group of volunteers. While the conference has been hugely meaningful for us, personally and professionally, the amount of unpaid labor required to put on a 4-day conference like this just isn’t sustainable indefinitely.

To close out the event, we’re celebrating what we’ve accomplished and experienced as a community. It’s important that we have the opportunity to explore together what comes next.

To do this, Audrey and Christie from the original organizing team are returning to organize a scaled-back, one-day event on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at the Eliot Center in Portland, OR.

The event will follow an unconference format, with a few keynotes as well as an afterparty. We’re looking forward to possible sessions on the past and future of open source, and best practices for development and community organizing. Additionally, we’ll be back to back with this year’s Indie Web Summit, happening at the Eliot Center Tuesday June 26 to Wednesday June 27, 2018 and the Django Girls workshop on June 23.

Tickets are available for purchase now on a sliding scale basis, from $10 to $100. Ticket sales are the main way we’re funding this year’s event. Because we’ll be in a smaller space, we’re limiting attendance to 200 people and recommend you get your ticket as soon as you can!

We recognize that many of you who aren’t local to Portland may also want to be part of our celebration, but are unable to travel for a one-day event. If you’re still interested in contributing, we’ve set up a special donate-what-you-wish registration option under “Gratitude.” When you register using this option, you can provide a message of thanks or a memory to share that we’ll print out and post in the Hacker Lounge.

Companies (or individuals) who’d like to support this final year of the conference may do so by purchasing a $250 Sponsorship ticket. Those of you who do will be recognized on the Open Source Bridge website, in the Hacker Lounge, and by the co-chairs during opening and closing events.

Thanks for an awesome 10 years and we look forward to seeing you in June!
