Choir Unplugged - Auditions

Choir unplugged is a new choir!

**We are delighted to have Vanessa Thomas on board leading us! You may know her from her work with Soul of the City Choir. **

We'll be singing arrangements that are sometimes simple and stripped back to reveal the purity of the voices, sometimes more intricate, sometimes with clapping and movement.

This choir is all about working on the details, creating exiting performances whilst having a blast doing it.  It’s called ‘playing music’ and we’re all about play.

We want to push the boundaries of choir, envelop our audiences in sound and experience the power of the voice!

Covering pop, soul, gospel, folk and, well, whatever we fancy!

We also love collaboration and are always open to opportunities.  Last term our 'extra' projects included adding choir vocals to an up coming band's album.

This choir is for you if you:

Can audition before the start of term

Can learn parts independently ready for rehearsal

Can sing with confidence on your own or in a small group

Can learn clapping patterns, singing whilst clapping

Can take vocal direction to explore the sounds the voice can make

Can move and sing

Have time to practice songs between rehearsals

Auditions - please feel free to audition for more than one part

Auditions will take place remotely.

Simply select your part / parts from the ticket section above.  Your confirmation email will contain a link to your audition plus all the information you need and details of how to submit (NB confirmation emails sometimes land in junk so please check there).

All singers have one week from the date they receive their confirmation email to complete and submit their audition - confirmation emails will be sent as soon as you've got your audition ticket.  

Your audition will include:

A snippet of a song to learn in a week.  Auditionees will record the snippet and send it back (please record your audition on a phone or other such device, we don't want polished studio recordings - audio is fine, we don't require video).

Vocal and clapping explorations to record on your phone and send back.

These auditions are for us to see where you're at in a non pressurised way.  If you’re at all interested in the choir, give it a go. If you never try, you’ll never know and, if you don’t get a place this time, there’s always the next time!!

The term fee is £105

The term fee includes, 10 rehearsals and an end of term gig  - there may be an additional dress rehearsal(s).  You will also receive learning materials, performance guidance and vocal guidance in rehearsals.  There may be extra opportunities to perform depending on the term.

If singing is your thing and you want to get stuck in, come and join the party!  If you are familiar with singing this is a great way to increase your skill and hone technique.

Rehearsals will be Monday evenings 8.15pm - 9.45pm starting from September - date TBC. Further details will be given after auditions have taken place.

NB for singers who have sung with Vanessa through Soul of the City - Please note that Choir Unplugged is a completely separate choir and term fees can not be transferred from Soul of the City to Choir Unplugged or vice versa.
