Through BIM, the UK construction industry is undergoing its very own digital revolution. BIM is a way of working. BIM is information modelling and information management in a team environment, all team members should be working to the same standards as one another. BIM creates value from the combined efforts of people, process and technology.
This half day workshop led by Ralph Montague, will explore the role of BIM in Northern Irelands Construction sector, the content pillars to be explored are:
- Leadership
- Standards
- Education
- Procurement
We will explore the 5 “Ingredients” for Change:
- Vision
- Incentives
- Skills
- Resources
- Action Plan (SMART)
The Workshop will address:
- BIM - essential tools and resources
- What “vision” does the NI Construction industry have for itself for a digital future?
- What is the risk/impact of doing nothing (business as usual)?
- What are the “blockers” to progress?
- What “incentives” are available, or could be made available, to drive change?
- Addressing the Skills gap has to be addressed at all levels
- What “resources” are available, or could be made available?
Delegates will come away from the workshop with a Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Time-based Action plan that collectively could drive digital transition to benefit their business with the use of BIM.
About the Trainer: Ralph Montague, Managing Partner, ArcDox
Qualified and registered architect. Graduate from University of Cape Town, South Africa. Moved to Ireland in 2000, and worked for one of Ireland’s largest commercial architectural practices at associate and project leader level, managing large scale mixed-use residential developments, commercial office, education and master planning projects.
With a keen interest in technology, innovation and efficient systems of managing construction projects. Co-founding partner of ArcDox in 2009, a specialist BIM (Building Information Modelling) practice in Ireland.
Oversees the business development and design management aspects of the practice. Involved in a number of industry groups promoting the adoption of digital practices in design and construction.
Ralph’s specialties include: Architecture, Design, Project Management, Master-planning, BIM (Building Information Modelling).
