The UK Space Sector: Insight and Opportunities

In association with the Open University, we are pleased to present an exclusive event on the UK Space Sector.

Join us for this morning event to not only learn about the UK Space Sector, but most importantly the opportunities that exists for advanced engineering companies to become part of the supply chain.

Hear from Martin Lee, Procurement at Airbus, who employ approximately 1000 people across their extensive space and satellite programmes, Martin will cover the “democratisation” of Space, and also highlight opportunities for collaboration with SME’s across various programmes.

Likewise, Steve Gibson, Senior BD Manager for Space at Lockheed Martin will present on their Space programmes involving re-entry, thermal control, release mechanisms, landers and penetrators. Steve will share Lockheed Martin’s ambitious growth plans and show how UK SME’s will be part of the journey.

Emily Gravestock, Head of Applications Strategy at the UK Space Agency will talk about how technologies and applications can spin in and spin out of different industries and sectors, and how you can get involved.

You will further hear from Anthony Baker, CEO of Satellite Vu – a UK Space sector start up who will highlight the new Space ethos and technology as well as the space start up culture in the UK.

As if that wasn’t enough, Farooq Sabri, Senior Economic Consultant of London Economics will highlight key market trends for advanced manufacturing in the space sector and identify growth opportunities for UK companies. Then Professor Andrew Holland, Director of the Space Strategic Research funding at the Open University will outline ways to partner and work with the university, a UK leader and internationally recognised across a broad range of Space Science research. The university is well positioned to support businesses in the region.
