The 2017 Made Smarter Review concluded that to increase the competitiveness of UK industry, there needs to be a greater uptake of automation in manufacturing. Join us to discuss the opportunities and challenges of working with collaborative smart automation and how this might impact the future of your business. This webinar will give you the real opportunity to get involved and help shape the future of robotics technology development.

Our host will be Dr Niels Lohse, Reader in Manufacturing Automation and Robotics and Director of the Intelligent Automation Centre at Loughborough University. He will share an exciting proposal to create a Research Centre for Smart, Collaborative Industrial Robotics at Loughborough University with its partners to the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF). The aim of the proposed centre is to overcome some of the key barriers to implementing automation, such as investment time, cost and returns, flexibility, risk and the impact on people. The centre will work closely with a wide cross section of industry, harnessing collaboration to build teams of small, inexpensive robots to be able to do complex tasks to increase productivity, quality and agility. Loughborough University are looking to work with industrial partners to share manufacturing challenges, participate in feasibility studies funded by the centre, influence the research and/or demonstrate products you already have.
