Disruptive and Future Innovations

Join us for an exciting exploration into future and disruptive innovations at this Design, Simulation and Metrology SIG event. During the event, we highlight several game-changing horizontal innovations that either have, or are about to, make a significant impact in new sectors.

As part of our inspirational agenda, we are delighted to welcome inventor-extraordinaire Dr Geraint Morgan from The Open University’s STEM Faculty. Geraint has not only develop various ‘sniffing’ technologies, but will also share with us his ground breaking work on valves for the Rosetta space mission that is about to revolutionise the hydrogen economy. Geraint is also on the lookout for project partners for his various technologies and is keen to engage with the STC membership for this.

Also joining is Neil Barnett from Hexagon who will explain how their latest metrology developments to calibrate robots are allowing them to morph this technology in various other areas.

Furthermore, Filomeno Martina will join us from WAAM3D who have been leading research in the field of large-scale metal 3D printing. He will share their own in-process approach to metrology and how this technology is allowing metal 3D printing to be done cost-effectively.

From Wirth Research, we will be hearing from Guilio Vita to talk about their innovative ‘wind engineering’ solutions that help reduce the impact of microclimates on building costs, energy usage and carbon foot print.

We also expect to welcome Symetri to explore the progressive capabilities of gaming engines in improving communication in design and engineering pipelines.

This will be an interactive event with plenty of opportunities to network with the expert speakers and peers from across the cluster. Spaces are limited so book your place today so you don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to connect with like-minded people.
