Verification, Certification & Security: Beware the Dark Side

How do you know the results you are getting are correct? How do you know you are talking to the right person who can deliver what he or she say they will? How do you know your data is safe, and how do you ensure it stays that way?

These, and more questions will be answered on September 25th at our next Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Special Interest Group (SIG) event hosted by EMW Law in Milton Keynes.

Wirth Research will showcase the importance and power of verification through work they have done in modelling fire behaviour for fire fighters, a critical area to ensure simulation results reflect reality in order to be able to save lives. Having previously deployed inadequate models, the fire services found that through working with Wirth they could substantially improve their chances for rescuing people and saving lives.

Dr Rob Lewis will utilise a section of the guest speaking slot to talk about the issue of certification with the industry, how do you know people can deliver what they say they will and whether or not they are any good? Rob will introduce some of the questions all companies should be asking and we will be joined by other industry experts to share their experiences and processes.

Last but not least, one of our newest STC members Hexegic, cyber security experts employed by the UK Government and the Ministry of Defence, will enlighten us on the issues surrounding cyber security and especially how you keep your data safe when utilising cloud computer cores and what companies could and should do to manage the safety of their data and systems properly.
