Intro Into Google Cloud Functions, Grant Timmerman

Google Cloud Functions makes it easy for developers to run and scale code in the cloud and build event-driven serverless applications. In this talk you'll learn about the latest updates with Google Cloud Functions along with a few demos of Functions working in action!

Grant is a developer platform engineer at Google where he works on Google Cloud Platform. Previously he led open source for G Suite APIs. He loves Node, GitHub, and plays the alto saxophone in his spare time.

Introduction to NATS Messaging with Python3, Waldemar Quevedo

NATS (https://nats.io) is a simple, secure and performant communications system for all digital systems, services and devices. This talk will give an overview about the project along with examples of how to use its asyncio client (https://github.com/nats-io/asyncio-nats) to build applications using NATS streams and services.

Waldemar Quevedo is a core contributor of NATS and maintainer of its Python and Ruby clients. He is also author of "Practical NATS" one of the first books about the project. He currently works at Synadia Communications, Inc., developing a global communications network based on NATS.

Getting here:

  • Driving: Civic Center Garage
  • Uber/Lyft: drop a pin on Jessie St behind the 875 Stevenson building
  • BART/Muni: Civic Center or Van Ness are the closest stations
  • Cycling: Please park your bikes on the street
  • The 875 Stevenson lobby is located through the building entrance next to the SF Fitness gym, not the main Twitter building lobby on 1355 Market street. Once you enter the lobby, please check in, sign DNA and security guards will help you access the elevators to the 5th floor.
