Process Discovery for Transformation Teams - Live Online Workshop with Chantal Botana and Maurice McGinley

De-risk big change by discovering the right problems to solve — before you commit.

Large-scale transformations — whether digital, agile, operational, or cultural — are full of unknowns. Leaders often roll out new processes, structures, or tools without testing their assumptions, only to find resistance, disruption, or limited adoption.

This course teaches transformation teams how to apply Product Discovery principles to process and organizational change, so you can experiment, learn, and adapt before implementing wide-scale changes.

Why do transformations stall or fail?

It’s not enough to have a bold vision. Even the best-intentioned transformations can fail when they:

Don’t account for how change impacts different teams

Rely on assumptions about what will work in practice

Roll out too much, too fast, without testing feasibility or adoption

Confuse activity with progress

This course helps you uncover what really drives or blocks change, so you can design interventions that stick — with less risk and more buy-in.

What makes this course different?

While the principles come from Product Discovery, the application is tailored to the messy reality of organizational change. Every example, case study, and exercise is drawn from real transformation contexts, such as:

Rolling out a new product operating model

Shifting from project to product funding

Implementing agile or hybrid delivery models at scale

Redesigning cross-functional collaboration workflows

Introducing new decision-making frameworks or governance

What will happen in class?

This workshop is limited to 20 participants for direct learning from certified trainers through real-time interaction, open discussions, and Q&A. Through a series of hands-on activities, discussions, and group work, your team will take a transformation challenge from vision to tested solution — keeping both the people impacted and the strategic goals at the center.

📚 Before each class: Watch a short pre-recorded video lecture introducing the week’s topic

📚 During class: Review the concepts and practice with lightweight, low-investment tools to declare and test product assumptions

📚 Breakouts: Work in cross-functional groups simulating real-world collaboration to solve for customer needs and business priorities

📚 Share-backs: Present your thinking to the group to build alignment and challenge assumptions

📚 Between sessions: Refine your work, watch the next set of videos, and (if possible) run a small-scale experiment

This is not a lecture-heavy course. Almost all the “talking at you” happens in the pre-class videos, leaving live time for discussion, debate, and activity.

Who is this workshop for?

Ideal for anyone driving or enabling transformation initiatives, including:

Transformation leaders and program managers

HR and People partners

Strategy and operations leaders

PMO teams

Agile coaches and change agents

Product, design, and engineering leaders involved in operating model shifts

Cross-functional teams tasked with process improvement

What will you learn?

Every participant will leave with a practical toolkit for applying discovery principles to transformation work, including how to:

Integrate discovery into transformation and change programs

Write testable change hypotheses

Conduct stakeholder and end-user research to uncover hidden barriers

Facilitate workshops that surface risks and align on priorities

Use Lean UX tools (e.g., Lean Product Canvas) for process experiments

Align leadership and teams around evidence-based change decisions

Outcome

Your transformation teams leave with a repeatable discovery approach for change — helping you move from vision to impact faster, with fewer missteps, and stronger adoption across the organization.

Who are the certified trainers?

Chantal Botana

Chantal Botana is a product coach and founder of Product Evangelist Co. She helps teams ditch the transformation theater and make Product Discovery a natural, drama-free part of how they work. She also trains and coaches teams on OKRs, helping them connect strategy to experiments so they can learn faster, focus better, and deliver what truly moves the needle.

With over 20 years in product — from scrappy startups to scale-ups and global giants like IBM, Samsung, and The Weather Channel — she blends agile, lean, and design thinking with real-world experience to drive outcomes that matter. (She’s even helped grow a mythical unicorn 🦄.)

Originally from Boston and raised between DC and NYC, Chantal has worked across the US, UK, and Europe. When she’s not coaching teams or exploring new places, you’ll find her co-hosting the Product Experiment Garage — a hands-on workshop for product folks who like to learn by doing — organizing a ProductTank, mentoring with Women in Tech, or out on the padel court (no, not pickleball!).

Curiosity and critical thinking are her superpowers — whether she’s partnering on experiments with product squads or saying yes to the weirdest thing on the menu (ask her!). She’s here to help you build the right things, in the right way — and actually enjoy the process.

Maurice McGinley

Maurice started as a technical writer for real time trading systems, but found was easier to redesign the product than explain it — which led to a career in product innovation and a PhD in HCI, and building a public emergency alert system.

Over the past 20+ years, he has worked with companies including Philips, Reuters, Merrill Lynch, and Avast, across sectors from consumer electronics to cybersecurity to climate tech. These days, he gets joy from helping product teams succeed, with a particular focus on effective experimentation.
