Repair Cafe Portchester 25th April 26'
Please book your item in advance so we can assess the repair and match you with the right volunteer. We may need to contact you for a little more information before the event.
Repair Cafe Portchester is a monthly community event run by volunteers to help fix broken household items, reduce waste, and share repair skills. Repairs are carried out with you, not as a drop-off service, and we cannot guarantee a repair.
Repair Café Portchester is free to attend & is run entirely on donations, with each event costing around £150–£170 to deliver. We’re proud to offer a welcoming, free service for anyone who needs help repairing their items - especially those who may not be in a position to contribute. If you are able to donate, your support helps us continue running future events, reducing waste, supporting our local community, and keeping our volunteer-led project going for the benefit of both people and the planet. A suggested donation is £10 if you are able.
WHAT WE FIX:
We are a group of volunteers with various skills and will try to fix items including:
+ Small Electrical items: Such as, Lamps, radios, toasters, vacuum cleaners, gaming controllers
+ Clothing & Textiles: Mending garments, replacing zippers, and repairing bags, Minor alterations.
+ Furniture & Household Items: Fixing broken chairs, tables, crockery, and sharpening tools
+ Toys & Jewellery: Repairing broken toys and jewelry
+ Bicycles: Pumping tyres, adjusting brakes, tightening spokes
At the moment we are unable to look at watches however will add this back to the list as soon as we can.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
+ Repair Cafe Portchester runs on the last Saturday of the month, 10:30am–12:45pm
+ Booking is encouraged so we can balance repairs with available volunteers
+ We do not repair large items such as fridges / freezers, petrol / gas-powered items, high-voltage items, hazardous items such as items with radioactive elements / watches or clocks with glowing components, safety equipment, microwaves, mobile phones, or laptops.
+ Guests must stay with their item during the repair. Part of what we do at RCP is to inform & teach guests how to carry out their own repairs in the future to promote the mindset of being confident to repair and re use items.
+ Repairs succeed around 50% of the time; items must be taken home whether fixed or not as we do not have facilities to store or dispose of items.
If you have any questions about your item(s) for repair please email us at RepairCafePortchester@gmail.com
We look forward to seeing you at the event.
