Rapha Cycling Club 2020 Kick-Off

Happy New Year! What better way to start 2020 than going the distance and kick Strava’s ass?

The Rapha Cycling Club 2020 Kick-Off will start at the coolest bike shop in Utrecht, Cycleworks (with Central Station just around the corner) and finish in Arnhem, hometown of the one and only Local Hero and self-crowned Gravel King Erwin Sikkens. The route of 165 kilometres offers you a beautiful blend of quiet, rural, meandering roads interspersed with some faster roads, forests and the heather of the Veluwe. Of course it won’t be a real Rapha experience without a bit of gravel here and there; exactly enough to keep things exciting but still nice and accessible for everyone. Radio Kootwijk, the famous cathedral-like building in art deco style will be worth a small detour. To crown it all, the final takes us through various well-known and lesser known climbs around the Posbank to Arnhem, where a final surprise is waiting for the real enthusiasts amongst us. Once we arrive in Arnhem some well-deserved post-ride beers and bites will be waiting for us.

There will be an option to leave a bag with warm and dry clothes in Utrecht which we will be happy to transport to Arnhem for you. Also some proper bike lights are strongly recommended.

Details: Start: Cycleworks Utrecht. Meet-up: 9.00AM - Roll-out 09.15. Lunch stop: after 85KM at restaurant De Waldhoorn in Otterlo (around 12.30PM). Finish: cafe Stella by Starlight in Arnhem (Central Station around the corner). Distance: 165KM. Speed: 28-30 avg with a no-drop policy.
