Introduction to Apache Beam - Online workshop by Polidea (Dec 3)

This workshop will be on December 3rd, 2020 from 5 to 8 pm CET.

During this workshop, you will:

  • Learn what is Apache Beam and what are Beam’s use cases,
  • Get basic knowledge about challenges of big data processing and how Beam can help you deal with them,
  • Write your first data processing pipeline and execute it on Google Cloud Dataflow.

The committers of the Apache Beam project will guide you through the process step-by-step. After the workshop, you will be able to start writing your own pipelines using everything you will learn.

Prerrequisites

In order to participate, you need to have either Java or Python experience. We recommend using a Linux or Mac computer during the workshop.

for Python users:

  • Install the latest version of Apache Beam by running pip install apache-beam[gcp]. Apache Beam supports the following versions of Python: 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8.

for Java users:

  • Have JDK 1.8 installed

Participation in this workshop requires previous registration and has limited capacity. The Workshop is paid for and costs USD 15 (money goes to Apache Software Foundation).
