Community Climate Action Programme (Strand 2) - Research Launch and Project Showcase
On the morning of Tuesday, 24th June 2025 at the Alex Hotel, Dublin, Pobal, in partnership with the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications will be hosting a climate conference to formally launch our new research project: ‘Understanding how inclusive community-based climate action can be scaled up: A Process Evaluation of the Community Climate Action Programme Strand 2’ authored by independant research consultant, Rachel Mulqueen.
Anna Shakespeare, CEO of Pobal will host a discussion with a panel of experts and community climate action implementers to explore the findings of the report. The panel will include:
- Ali Sheridan, Chair of the Just Transition Commission
- Seán McCabe, The Spark Project in Bohemian Football Club
- Aoife Hammond, HomeWorks Project Common Knowledge & the National LGBT Federation
- Jennie Stephens, Professor of Climate Justice, Maynooth University
Finally, the morning will also showcase the pilots, supports, toolkits, trainings, know-how and approaches that were developed collaboratively with target groups for social inclusion, and which will assist communities take meaningful action on climate change. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with and learn about the 19 projects.
It is hoped that this event will support the wide dissemination and enhanced reach of these learning outputs, most of which are now ready for use by communities around Ireland! So if you are a community group who wishes to take action on climate change or have a role in supporting community groups deliver climate action in your area - this event is for you!
