FOSS4G is the world’s largest conference dedicated to open-source geospatial software, organized by the OSGeo Foundation. In 2026, this global FOSS4G event will be held in Hiroshima, Japan.
Geospatial technology empowers communities to address real-world challenges such as disaster response, urban planning, and environmental resilience.
At FOSS4G 2026 Hiroshima, we will further highlight the humanitarian applications of open-source geospatial technologies — from supporting refugees to preserving cultural memory.

A guided excursion to historic and cultural sites in Hiroshima.
🕊️ Peace Memorial Park — Guided Tour A guided tour of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, located at the site of the 1945 atomic bombing. The park is adjacent to the Conference venue.
⛴️ Chartered Ferry (1 hour) A one-hour chartered ferry ride to the island.
⛩️ Itsukushima Shrine — Guided Tour A guided tour of Itsukushima Shrine, a Shinto shrine built over the sea on wooden stilts, known for its large vermilion torii gate standing in the water. Founded in the 6th century. A UNESCO World Heritage site.
🍱 Lunch Lunch will feature local Hiroshima cuisine. Light refreshments with vegan and halal options will also be provided, but participants with specific dietary requirements are encouraged to bring their own food to ensure their needs are fully met.
