'CKAN' Hackathon

Ireland does not have an active central open data portal and datasets are spread across numerous platforms at the moment. Open Data Ireland community now joins forces with the Open Knowledge Foundation Network to deploy Central Open Data Portal, to revive opendata.ie and to establish an epicenter for encouragement and development of open knowledge in Ireland by launching the local OKFN chapter.

Coffee 3FE, tea and pastries will be available throughout the day. Lunch and refreshments will be served to the participants.

  1. Central Open Data Portal (CODP)
    • To deploy Central Open Data portal by upgrading ie.ckan.net currently run on CKAN v 1.7.4 to the current CKAN 2.1
    • upgrade front end
    • upgrade back end
    • redirect ie.ckan.net to opendata.ie/data
  2. Audit/inventory existing/available open datasets
    • by working OKFN’s Open Data Census
    • [follow-up] to drill down to the level as per COFIG’s classification of governmental functions
    • Link/upload open datasets to COD
    • Review suggestions for inclusion in the Irish National OGP Action Plan
  3. Revive opendata.ie + Review suggestion to OGP action plan
    • to deploy contemporary website
    • bring content up to date
    • review OGP suggestions
  • Launch ‘Irish OKFN Local Group’
