National Open Data Conference 2026

"Unlocking Impact: Open Data for Trust & Transformation"

Organised by the Open Data Team at the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, the National Open Data Conference returns on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, bringing together public service bodies, researchers, civil society organisations, industry representatives and policymakers to explore how open data can support a more transparent, innovative and digitally-enabled Ireland.

As Ireland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this year's conference will examine the role of open data as critical digital infrastructure that supports the delivery of better public services, strengthens evidence-informed policymaking, unlocks innovation and contributes to wider digital transformation processes.

The programme will feature presentations, panel discussions and practical case studies exploring:

• Open Data for Better Public Services
• Open Data for Impact
• Open Data for Transformation

Topics will include public service innovation, transparency and trust, domestic and European digital policy developments, opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies like AI, as well as use cases from the public and private sector demonstrating the social and economic benefits arising from the use and re-use of open data.

The conference will also provide opportunities for networking and engagement with colleagues from across the public service, academia, business/enterprise, civil society and the wider Irish Open Data community.
