Nodebots at First Assembly #1 2017

It's time again for another NodeBots event, this time we'll be joining forces with the great crew at 1st Assembly to bring sumobots to Lower Hutt!

We'll be running this on Saturday the of 18th March 2017. Construction material are provided on the day but PLEASE bring a laptop if you have access to one so that you can program your robots!

Out host for this event are 1st Assembly, Wellington’s first hardware community and startup hub, based in Lower Hutt. 1st Assembly is a community of like-minded designers, engineers, craftspeople and entrepreneurs who collaborate, within a co-working space, to foster hardware innovation and business development.

NodeBots is a day-long event based around electronic hardware and learning how to control this hardware with JavaScript (or C), a programming language used mainly on the web but is making moves into hardware.

By the end of the day you will have had the chance to create a small robot that you can drive around, disco lights made with multi-coloured LED bulbs, control quad-copter drones or do pretty much anything else you can think of with the equipment we have on hand. Pretty cool, huh!

Tickets are limited, and as always we have a discount code (at the bottom of the page) if you're a bit cash strapped.

What even is NodeBots

NodeBots is a day long event, run from 10:00am till 4:00pm.

During the event you'll learn all about electronic hardware, and how to program it with JavaScript. There are a heap of things to do on the day, and people are free to do whatever they find interesting, from playing with RGB LEDs, to building a sumo fighting robot, the choice is yours.

Who is this for?

Everyone! NodeBots NZ runs events that cater for people of all ages, from newbies to hardware enthusiasts, that are passionate about technology and learning.

For this specific event we have designated the age to be 13 years and above. But if you're under 13 don't fret! We will be working with others to provide you with more NodeBots events that you can attend and take part.

JavaScript? Hardware? What is that, I’m not a computer genius!

Relax! NodeBots is a day primarily based around learning. You don’t need to have any previous experience in programming or hardware to take part and have fun. NodeBots experts will be readily available to help you learn what you need to create. People are free to do whatever they find interesting, from toying with colourful LED lights, to building a sumo fighting robot ready to rumble, the choice is yours.

Do I need to bring anything on the day?

Just yourself, a laptop, and some lunch to snack on during the day. All the hardware is provided by NodeBots NZ and it’s generous sponsors, so you don’t need to worry about a thing. But if you have some of your own, feel free to bring it along and share the knowledge!

What time does the event start and finish? I’m unsure I can attend for the whole day?

The event will start at 10:00am, and run through until 4:00pm on the 29th of October - But feel free to come and go as you please. If you can only attend for a few hours, that’s cool too - as long as you are learning and enjoying your time, we are happy for you to do so.

How much does the event cost?

The ticket price is $15.00 which covers the use of the gear.

We want everyone to be able to attend NodeBots, so If you're unable to come due to financial constraints, then use the code: NODEBOTS_IS_AWESOME, to get your ticket free of charge.

Lastly, I'd just like to do a massive thank-you to our sponsors that provide the equipment to make this possible.
