October New Tech DEI - Transforming Power, Patriarchy, and Privilege

10/27/22 10:30am-11:30am PDT

Join us to participate in a safe space where you can share and learn about deeper and real diversity, equality and inclusion topics that you may not have any other place to talk about these issues and solutions.

This month we will be joined by Ray Arata, founder of the Better Man Conference to talk about power, patriarchy, and privilege. A result of recent events in the world relating to equity, equality, and social justice (such as the #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter, #COVIDPandemic) has directed the spotlight of attention to men – the majority of whom want to be better in their roles as fathers, husbands, partners, leaders, and colleagues. Ray will talk about the inspiration behind the conference - created for those men who are willing to take responsibility to change the paradigm; to reexamine patriarchy, learn to share power, and use both our earned and unearned privileges for good.

Tyrone Cunningham will facilitate the session (occurs the 4th Thursday of every month at 10:30am). The event is open to anyone wanting to make real change happen. If you have a standing meeting invite for this event on your calendar please delete it.

We believe the PNW is: A region where women and underrepresented minorities are able to pursue opportunities to participate productively in ways that are meaningful for them and that contribute to our local economy and society, and where employers and community organizations have a multitude of ways to create and improve real opportunities for those wanting opportunity and facing bias.

As Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
