Edinburgh Global Day of Code Retreat
What is it?
Global Day of Coderetreat is a world-wide event celebrating passion and software craftsmanship. Last year, over 2000 passionate software developers in 150 cities around the world spent the day practicing the craft of software development using the coderetreat format. This year, our goal is to have 200 participating cities! With an average of 20-25 participants per city, that's over 3000 developers!

A lot of us code all day, but do we ever practice coding? I mean deliberate practice, in the way that a musician might do scales or a runner Fartleks. Professional tennis players don't get better at tennis by just playing games of tennis. A Code Retreat is a day set aside for programmers to hone our craft, by doing deliberate practice. It's fun too - just ask anyone who came to last year’s events.
December 14 is Global Day of Code Retreat: over 164 separate Code Retreats are being held in 43 countries around the world.
