The event is a leisurely cycle around Navan starting at 10am on Sunday 20th June 2021  at the Meath County Council offices, Buvinda House car park.

This FREE event is a leisurely cycle around Navan starting at 10am on Sunday 20th June 2021 at the Meath County Council offices, Buvinda House.

Route Description

  1. Exit the car park and turn left down Bóthar Sion
  2. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Dublin Road R147
  3. Continue straight at the roundabout on the Dublin Road
  4. Turn left onto Old Kilcarn Bridge
  5. After the bridge, turn left and proceed up the hill
  6. At the junction, turn left onto Metges Road
  7. Continue straight at the entrance to the IDA Business & Technology Park
  8. At the roundabout beside Supervalu, EITHER continue straight (long route) OR turn left down Bóthar Sion and back to the car park (short route)
  9. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Kentstown Road
  10. At Crossfit, turn left into Elm Park, and stay on the road around to the right
  11. At Athlumney Castle, turn left
  12. At the rear of Athlumney Castle, turn right onto the path into The Crescent (Athlumney Abbey)
  13. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Bóthar Sion
  14. At the traffic lights, turn right into the IDA Business & Technology Park

The cycle is open to everyone with a bike! For the safety and health of everyone involved, we have some rules:

  • COVID Policy - our policy for operating within COVID health guidlines

Safety Policy

Navan Cycling Initiative is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable event. All participants must:

  • Wear a helmet
  • Be at least 6 years of age (unless being a passenger with an adult)
  • Be able to cycle independently (no balance bikes or stabilisers)
  • Have a bike that is roadworthy
  • Observe the Rules of the Road at all times
  • Follow the instructions of event marshals and Gardaí

All participants are responsible for their own safety. Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety of their children.

First Aid support will be provided by a trained first- aider/marshal who will follow the group.

COVID Policy

This event falls into the category of an “Organised outdoor gathering” and adheres to government guidelines for such events, in addition to the usual COVID practices such as social distancing.

As the guidelines are evolving, we will monitor the advice closely and may make adjustments up until the day of the event.

  1. This is entirely an outdoor event
  2. A maximum of 200 attendees are permitted at the event including organisers
  3. Each participant must carry a mask. A mask must be worn if close to a person outside their own ‘bubble’ – e.g. in the event of a puncture
  4. Sign-in at the Buvinda House car park will be contact-free. Please bring your confirmation email so that we can check you in quickly and safely
  5. Maintain 2m from attendees outside of your "bubble" at all times
