Navan Bike Week Family Cycle is FULL

We’re delighted to invite you to the Navan Bike Week Family Cycle, part of National Bike Week, to promote cycling as a safe, healthy and enjoyable mode of transport.

The event is now FULL and for safety reasons we can’t accept any more participants.

Introduction

The event is a cycle around Navan, starting at 2:30pm on Sunday 27th September 2020 at the Fair Green car park

The cycle is open to everyone with a bike! For the safety and health of everyone involved, we have some rules:

  • Our insurer requires that all cyclists wear a helmet
  • Cyclists younger than 6 are very welcome to take part as passengers on an adult bike
  • Please check that your bike is in good working order before the event (our marshals will have some tools in case anything goes wrong during the cycle)

Safety

Navan Cycling Initiative is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable event. All participants must:

  • Wear a helmet
  • Be at least 6 years of age (unless being a passenger with an adult)
  • Be able to cycle independently - no balance bikes, no stabilisers
  • Have a bike that is roadworthy
  • Observe the Rules of the Road at all times
  • Follow the instructions of bicycle marshals and Gardaí
  • Not pass the lead cyclist

Everyone is responsible for their own safety. Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety of their children.

First Aid will be provided by a trained first- aider/marshal who will follow the group.

COVID

This event falls into the category of an “Organised outdoor gathering” and adheres to government guidelines for such events, in addition to the usual COVID practices such as social distancing.

We are currently at Level 2 of the new level system. We will monitor this and make adjustments up until the day of the event.

  • This is entirely an outdoor event
  • A maximum of 100 attendees are permitted at the event
  • Sign-in at the Fair Green Car Park will be contact-free. Attendees must bring their registration confirmation email so that we can check you in safely
  • Attendees will be arranged into groups of no more than 15, and accompanied by a marshal, who will be clearly identified and wearing hi-viz clothing
  • Maintain 2m from other attendees at all times

Route

  1. Turn left out of the car park, then right onto Circular Road
  2. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Railway St/ R161
  3. Continue on Railway St/Trim road, turning left at Navan Enterprise Centre
  4. Continue to St Columbus Crescent and turn right onto Limekiln Wood
  5. Continue on Limekiln Wood and turn left onto Limekiln Hall
  6. Continue on Limekiln Hall and turn left onto Springfield Glen
  7. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Dublin Rd / R147
  8. Continue on Dublin Rd, taking care passing the entrance to the Maxol garage and the traffic lights at the bottom of
  9. Circular Rd
  10. At the traffic lights at the Meath Chronicle, turn left up Timmons Hill
  11. At Market Square turn left, onto Ludlow St
  12. At Navan Travel, turn right, up Church Hill towards Fair Green
  13. Turn left into Fair Green. Congratulations!!
