Kadayawan Mapa-thon

It's August, and in Davao, it also means the merry month of Kadayawan - it also happens to be OpenStreetMap's 13th year anniversary! We are collaborating with volunteers and local agencies to map the fire-fighting assets of the city - #HailHydrant!

Additional Information

We're holding a mapa-thon in Davao, and everyone is welcome to participate - no previous experience is necessary. Training and digital GeoBadges (credentials) badges will be given to participants.

Emergency responders in the city need reliable maps in order to react to situations appropriately. However, there are still gaps in the currently available maps.

That's why we need your help!

We train volunteers like you how to trace aerial imagery into OpenStreetMap, a free and open map of the entire world. Together, we'll put the fire-fighting assets of Davao City on the map in one afternoon. No experience required!

Bring laptop & mouse. Refreshments are on the house.

We'll map the hydrant network of the city, the fire stations - including those of the volunteer brigades , and emergency-related facilities like medical facilities, evacuation centers, and police stations.

You'll have the opportunity to learn how to map, hear about related projects, and chat about how Free and Open data can fuel your projects.
