Refufilms: Film Screening & Discussion
Join us for the second edition of #Refufilms. We will be screening Oksijan: A Short Film, followed by a discussion lead by Clinical Pscyhologist Laura Lupi.
OKSIJAN is the true story of Ahmad, a seven year old Afghan refugee who fled from his home with his brother to find safety in Europe. He’s trapped in the back of a refrigerated lorry along with fourteen other refugees trying to reach the UK, when the air inside begins to run out. As the other men’s efforts to escape fail, it falls to Ahmad to try to save them all. The film will be shown in English.
The film will be followed by a discussion led by Laura Lupi, Clinical Psychologist with Wellbeing Connections. As an immigrant herself from Venezuela, she has personal experience of the issues related to forced migration and the impact that this has, and will lead a discussion on the film and issues raised by it. The discussion will be conducted in both English and Spanish

OKSIJAN es la verdadera historia de Ahmad, un refugiado afgano de siete años que huyó de su casa con su hermano para buscar refugio en en Europa. Están atrapado en la parte trasera de un camión refrigerado junto con otros catorce refugiados que intentan ir al Reino Unido, cuando el aire en el interior falló. A medida que los esfuerzos de los otros hombres por escapar no funcionan, Ahmad intenta de salvar a todos! La película se proyectará en inglés.
Después de la proyección, tenemos una charla guiada por Laura Lupi, psicóloga clínica con Wellbeing Connections. Ella es migrante de Venezuela y también tiene experiencia personal en los temas relacionados con la migración forzada y el impacto que esto tiene, y liderará una discusión sobre la película y los problemas que plantea. La discusión se llevará a cabo tanto en inglés como en español.
