Edinburgh Junior Congress 2019

Once again this season, the Edinburgh Junior Congress will be a qualifier for Scotland's national Junior Chess Competition - Chess for Kicks.

The competitions are split by grading and age. We are using start of season (Published) grades.

You can find your child's Chess Scotland grade via the Chess Scotland website

Full day events 9.15am - 4.30pm

Primary U300/Ungraded

Secondary U600/U300/Ungraded

School aged children who's grade is below 600. The top 4 under 600 and the top 4 under 300 will qualify for the Chess For Kicks final.

Open / U1200 Allegro

Any school aged player. The top 4 players under 1200 will qualify for the Chess for Kicks final.

Half day Taster - 1pm

As well as the full day events, Lothian Junior Chess are also running a 'Taster Tournament'. This will be a miniature version of the main event, with just three rounds of games from 1pm. This is targeted at younger children and those who feel that to start straight into a six round event might be too big a first step. Entry for the taster is limited to P5 and under, and the players should not yet have a grading and have played in less than two of our events.

For this event we are using online entries - this should ease congestion at the registration desk. You need to select your tickets, enter your payment details to pay and then provide information about the child (or children!) that you have entered.
