Local Welcome meals in Birmingham
Local Welcome is collaborating with Birmingham Museums
As part of our project with The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we've teamed up with Birmingham Museums to explore the history and culture of Birmingham's food scene.
A member of the team at Birmingham Museums will be attending this meal to share stories and history about cultures who've made Birmingham’s food scene what it is today.
This will include some snippets of oral histories (audio of past Birmingham residents talking about their food). Our leaders will then be running a rice-themed cooking session and discussion, comparing and contrasting different rice dishes all over the world!

More about Local Welcome
In a divided world, Local Welcome uses the magic of food to bring communities together.
You’ll cook and eat a meal from scratch, with other awesome people, like you - some born in your local area, some new, some seeking sanctuary, or refugees.
It’s a great way to translate your values into action, make new friends, and learn delicious healthy recipes.
You might start cooking with strangers, but you’ll end up eating with friends.
👉 Please note that we've released a new donate-what-you-can membership model to help make our groups more inclusive, and more resilient for the future!
