Structure of the Filmmakathon Weekend

You'll be organised into small teams with a cross section of core filmmaking skills needed to make a film in a weekend. To balance the skills of the teams we've split the tickets into different types - choose the ticket that suits your experience.

Teams will make and screen a complete film in a weekend! David and Kylie, the creators of Lean Filmmaking, will will coach the teams through the entire process.

Some of the creative tools we’ll be using to help us make films:

  • Story idea generation
  • Collaborative team building
  • Task walls & time management
  • Interations & production cycles
  • Short feedback loops

Dates and times

Saturday 30 - Sunday 31 August 9am - 6:30pm both days

We’ve got lots of exciting things to do so we start promptly at 9am (yes, even on a Sunday). The venue will be open from 8.40am so come in early to have a cuppa and say hello.

Location

Pozible HQ, Level 2, 108-112 Langridge St, Collingwood.

Thanks to Pozible who are our amazing venue sponsor. We will be using their great space in Collingwood as home base for the weekend.

Meals

Lunches and snacks are included in price for both days so you can focus on making your film.

BYO Equipment

To keep ticket prices low, and embrace constraints, we ask attendees to bring their own equipment e.g. cameras, editing computers/software, mics, etc.

People using their own equipment can also hit the ground running so the focus is making rather than learning how to use new equipment. Once you've registered we'll send you an email asking if there is anything you can provide for your team.

What about Copyright?

The focus of the weekend is experimenting with new ideas, learning and sharing. Everyone on the team, and Lean Filmmaking, will own the copyright of the film and can use it how they please. We will be uploading the films to YouTube during the weekend for public viewing.
