Lab Lunch 12/1 — Lucianne Walkowicz from the Adler Planetarium

This week's lab lunch is going to be out of this world! Lucianne Walkowicz is an astronomer at the Adler Planetarium where she works with data from NASA's Kepler Mission to study stellar magnetic activity and the habitability of exoplanets. Check out the TED Talk Lucianne gave about her work. As journalists we have a lot to learn from how scientists handle and understand massive amounts of data — and the Adler Planetarium's Zooniverse project is doing some groundbreaking work in crowdsourcing and citizen science. Also, you should come because space is cool.

Ask her about speaking at the White House Frontiers Conference, working as a practicing artist, and if there might be life somewhere else in the universe.
