Cooler Clinics Sept: Releasing Music with Diatribe Records

Date: Saturday 14th Sept Time: Talk at 2PM, with limited 1:1 consultation slots available from 3:20 PM - 6 PM Location: The Cooler at The Complex, 12 Mary's Abbey, Dublin 7

Each month, Improvised Music Company hosts Cooler Clinics—free CPD events and 1:1 consultations tailored to support jazz and improvising musicians. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss strategies, and receive guidance and feedback from the IMC team.

This month, the clinic is focused on the multifaceted process of pitching and releasing music, featuring special guest Matthew Jacobson from Diatribe Records.

An established recording artist, DCU lecturer, and IMC board member, Matthew Jacobson is a key figure in the Irish music community and Co-Director of Diatribe - a leading Irish independent label for new music. With over 50 critically acclaimed recordings, Diatribe has been a vital platform for innovative music, representing more than 200 performers and 100 composers.

In this clinic, Matthew will unpack the process of releasing music from both an artist's and a label's perspective. He will cover a range of topics, including production & post-production, promotion, distribution, funding, and the advantages and challenges of self-releases versus collaborating with a label.

After the presentation, there will be a limited number of 1:1 consultation slots with Matthew or a member of the IMC team. These sessions are perfect for discussing your specific plans, seeking practical advice, or addressing other career concerns.

Attendance is free, but registration is necessary. Please book in below for the talk and/or 1:1 consultations.
