Cooler Clinics May: Policy

Date: Monday 13th April Time: Discussion at 11am, limited 1:1 consultation slots available from 12:00pm-2:00pm Location: Online via Zoom

Each month, Improvised Music Company hosts Cooler Clinics - free CPD events and 1:1 consults. These sessions are an opportunity for jazz and improvising musicians to soundboard, discuss, strategise, and get guidance and feedback from the IMC team.

May's clinic is an online option for those who can't make it into The Cooler or live further away.

This month we’ll be holding an open discussion around the Arts Council’s new Music Policy and how you may be able to use it in your own funding applications or advocacy. With a specific reference to the additional support needed for jazz and improvised music in Ireland, this Music Policy is a key acknowledgement for our sector from the Arts Council and an important one to discuss.

There will also be some 1:1 slots available to talk to the IMC team about anything that’s been concerning you in your career. Topics can be things including social media, funding applications, newsletter marketing, releasing music, domestic and international touring, or many other things that can be challenging for a lot of musicians to navigate.

If policy documents seem miles removed from real life, we’ll try to have a look at interpreting them and how you may be able to use some of the elements of the policy practically in your career.
