Cooler Clinics April: Releasing Music with guest speaker Dermot Rogers
Date: Saturday 6th April Time: Talk at 11am, limited 1:1 consultation slots available from 12:30pm-3:00pm Location: The Cooler at The Complex, 12 Mary's Abbey, Dublin 7.
Each month, Improvised Music Company hosts Cooler Clinics - free CPD events and 1:1 consults. These sessions are an opportunity for jazz and improvising musicians to soundboard, discuss, strategise, and get guidance and feedback from the IMC team.
This month's clinic is focused about releasing music, with special guest Dermot Rogers.
Dermot Rogers presents 2 weekly radio shows (The Night Train and Jazz Time) on DublinCityFM, runs Livia Records and is a director of IMC. A lifelong music collector and aficionado, he has 40 years experience working in software and digital media. Now retired from the corporate IT world, Dermot is semi-retired and dedicating a lot of his time and energy to supporting music related matters, particularly in the jazz/improv space.
Dermot will present useful points from his experience in releasing music, covering areas including: reasons to release, production & post-production, local international promotion, legal matters, duplication and online distribution, funding, and the pros and cons of self-releases versus working with a label.
After the will be a presentation, there will be a limited number of 1:1 consultation slots to discuss releasing music with Dermot or one of the IMC, to cover specific plans or practical advice. You're also welcome to bring other career concerns to discuss with the IMC team.
