EU Charter of Fundamental Rights - 10th Anniversary Conference

The ICEL, in association with the School of Law, NUI Galway, and Open Society Justice Initiative is delighted to invite you to a one day conference on 'The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights: Ten Years On,' to be held in the Long Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin, on Saturday 7 December 2019.

The event will consider the development and application of the Charter from a number of different perspectives, including: the Right to an Effective Remedy under Article 47 of the Charter; Consumer Law and Economic Governance; and the Effect of the Charter on National Law.

Confirmed speakers for the conference so far include: Mr Justice Nial Fennelly (Chair); Dr John Temple Lang; Anna Van Duin of the University of Amsterdam; Professor Jeffrey Kenner of the University of Nottingham; Marguerite Angelari of Open Society Justice Initiative; Dr Padraic Kenna of NUI Galway; Professor Catherine Donnelly of Trinity College Dublin; Dr Stephen Brittain of ICEL, and Michael O’Neill of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.

The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Michael O'Flaherty, Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.

This event will be of interest to lawyers and advocates concerned with ensuring that fundamental rights are protected in Ireland including practising lawyers, academics and NGOs.
