Masterclass with showback with Ida (Friday’s show) Level: Intermediate/Advanced
Far from the beaten tracks, the forest determines our steps. Only when we get into its rhythm, follow the flow of its springs and respect everything living in it, does it let us into its heart. There - for thousands of years - the dryads dance. Elegant and full of power, this choreography will transform you into mystical tree spirits. We dance to the brilliant piece "Ode to Fuimadane" by Vinnie Camilleri: https://youtu.be/-DvacVglo9s
Learn a brand new choreography that seamlessly fuses belly dance movements within a contemporary dance framework. This choreography includes a variety of turns, foot patterns and isolation layers to create a dynamic fusion of dance styles, yet leaves room for personal interpretation and stylisation.
Level: Open, HOWEVER
Please note: This class requires commitment from you: The pre-requisite to being able to take part in the show-back is practice of the combinations/choreography prior to the event, so that the workshop can be used for “fine-tuning” and spacing. To this end, a private FB group will be created to communicate the necessary!
This is an event held by an internationally renowned teacher and, whilst we aim to provide content for more advanced participants, we also want to stay true to our mission of inclusivity. To this end, we strive to work with instructors that are capable of multi-level classes.
The Show - DOORS @ 7:30pm; out by midnight!
Tradition is to carry on at the Metal Monacle :)

A Boho Blade workshop focused on getting out of the mid-land and moving bravely into the arms over your head land when working with a sword balanced on your head. This workshop also will introduce some nifty arm patterns and unique ways to use your arms in your sword work in true Boho Blade style.
This technique and drilling-intense class will focus on combining smooth and effortless looking pathways contrasted with surprising and unexpected pops and locks. After this high energy class, students will walk away with several versatile combinations that work great for dancing to electronic music or drum solos.
A brand new choreography created especially for Gothla! (Saturday Open Stage)
Embrace the perfect darkness of space and be inspired by the beauty and wonder of galaxies, nebulae, black holes and supernovae. Drawing on movements from fusion bellydance and beyond, this choreography will explore the ways in which our bodies – themselves made of stardust – can evoke the resplendence of the universe’s celestial bodies. With optional performance opportunity.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Kami will share some of her new combinations and movement phrases that she has created for her new dance program called Krysalis. Krysalis focuses on the style of Contemporary Fusion Belly Dance, which combines strong leg and footwork with fluidity in the spine and precision in the torso. It emphasizes strength and flexibility, rhythmic and musical phrasing, and most importantly, self-expression. These movement phrases are accessible to every dancer and provide freedom to explore your own personal style.

Piping hot combos ready for you to take away and perform! We’ll learn three short but sweet combos, and drill drill drill them to different styles of music. We’ll discover how easy it is to slot them into a choreography you’re working on or use them in improvisation. We’ll also explore how to adapt any combo to add your own flavour by using different timings, dynamics and emotions.
Executing slow, controlled and sustained movement is something many of us aspire to yet can be so difficult to achieve. This workshop will begin with working on new lines and pathways moving at molasses slow speed with ultra clean technique. We will take our slink and combine it with a some pops, locks and contrasting movements that create striking combinations.
Level: Open Level
Ida & Maxx invite you to their dream lab, where dance and video projection merge. Use the latest projection technology to dance through swirls of flames, float on the ocean floor or envelop yourself in psychedelic flowers. Whether you just want to try your hand at video projections or already have a little mini-scene in mind: Ida & Maxx will support you in making the cinema within your head come true. Please wear light-coloured and/or metallic clothes in order to achieve the best results with the projection. If you have special ideas or wishes, do not hesitate to contact Ida & Maxx in advance.
The first half of class will be technique and posture focused. Shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand and finger work will be intensely covered so that we are able to learn how to articulate through each mobile part of the arms for true arm isolations. The second half of class will take these smooth arm movements and apply them to combinations including isolations, shimmies and traveling patterns.
Level: Beginner to Intermediate
