Global Diversity CFP Day 2020 in Munich

Are you a member of an underrepresented or marginalised group? Have you always wanted to become a tech conference speaker? Let 2020 be the year that you make that dream a reality!

On January 18, the Global Diversity CFP Day will also take place in lovely Munich. Your participation in the workshop is facilitated in small groups (appr. 5 persons) with great mentors (1-2 per group). We are also planning to provide Lightning Talks on relevant topics (see draft agenda below).

Participation is free of charge. It's a whole day (10:00 - 16:00) just for you! Lunch (vegetarian & vegan), snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.

  • 10:15 : Welcome from the team and Code of Conduct review
  • 10:30 : Advice video #1: CFP Advice from Raquel Velez and Sarah Mei
  • 11:00 : Session: Crafting Your First Speaker Biography (Tiffany Allen, 20 min)
  • 11:30 : Session: Engaging Talks (Julie Ng, 20 min)
  • 12:15 : Lunch (vegan and vegetarian)
  • 13:00 : Session: Slide Design (Núria Peña, 20 min)
  • 14:00 : Session: Understanding Common CfP Processes (Johannes Weber, 20 min)
  • 15:00 : Advice video #2: Jessica Rose: The day of your talk
  • 15:15 : Sharing time/Presentations
  • 15:45 : Group Photo and Closing

Room situation

  • One large room will be available throughout the day for our amazing attendees (you!) working with our amazing mentors.
  • One large room will be available for lightning talks and videos from the global team. In the breaks, this room (and the audience) can also facilitate rehearsals.
  • Both rooms are walk-in at all times.
  • 4 smaller rooms will be available as nursing room, quiet and prayer room, Code of Conduct room and rehearsal room.

All participants must adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct also applies to our mentors, supporters, organisers and volunteers.
