GDCR 2019 - Saskatoon

On Saturday, November 16th, Coderetreats will be held at cities around the world for the 2019 Global Day of Coderetreat, uniting software developers in their quest for improvement. Calian SED is proud to be your host for this event!

Come join your fellow Saskatoon coders to practice the art of software development together. Write code, learn from others, teach someone else, and expand your network of friends who are passionate about their craft. Software developers of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome!

Where: Calian SED, 18 Innovation Blvd. Please use the Employee Entrance on the west side of the building where the parking lot is

When: Saturday, November 16. The sessions run all day, from 10:00 - 4:00 with a 1/2 hour lunch starting at 12:30. Please be there 10 minutes early to grab a coffee and sign in.

Cost: This event is free. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

What to Bring: Please bring your laptop with your favourite development tools and a unit testing framework already installed. Everything else is provided. If you don't have a laptop, that's okay too. Just answer the questions accordingly when you book your ticket.

Parking: Plenty of free parking on the west side of the building.

Background: Coderetreat is a worldwide pattern designed to hone software skills and design practices through repeated attempts to build an implementation of a well-known software problem. Unit testing and Test-Driven Development will be emphasized as key practices. Developers use pair programming and discussion to exchange knowledge, and additional constraints are given throughout the day to emphasize good design concepts and practices.
