Getner Barn Summer Camp 2023
The world of horses is an exciting place for children. Our job at Getner Barn is to make your child's experience the best it can be. Camp is designed to instill safety, knowledge, and enjoyment of horses. During your child's week at our farm, he or she will work closely with our horses and staff, in a hands-on environment.
Other activities include demonstrations, reading and writing activities, crafts, videos, and games, all based on increasing your child's knowledge of horses.
Essentials: All children must be 6 years of age, have proper riding boots and an approved riding helmet. Bike and ski helmets are not permitted. They will be required to ride in pants to avoid leather rubs. Additionally, your child should bring a change of clothes, a warm sweatshirt, extra socks, and a towel, to accommodate weather changes and the need for a quick change as well as a raincoat. Make sure your child has ample sunscreen and bug spray on and have it packed with them. Opened-toed shoes are not permitted on the property, and sneakers are not permitted for riding.
Masks are optional. Hand sanitizer and soap, and water will be readily available to all campers and staff members.
Please make sure to pack multiple bottles of water for hydration as well as a nutritious snack.
If your child has any special concerns, problems, or medical needs, Kathi Meenan or Michelle Hammond must be notified in writing, along with a doctor's note advising that your child may attend.
A release form must be signed before a child is allowed on or near a horse. The camp will be again directed by Michelle and Jessica with the assistance of others.
