GBSI Special Roundtable on Climate Finance: Financing the Just Maritime Transition for Pacific SIDS

As global efforts to decarbonise maritime transport accelerate, Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face pressing challenges in accessing the finance needed for a sustainable and resilient maritime transition. This side event will convene policymakers, climate finance institutions, researchers, and maritime stakeholders to discuss pathways for mobilising climate finance to support green electrification, sustainable shipping systems, and resilient port infrastructure in Pacific island economies.

Building on emerging policy research and international cooperation efforts, the session will highlight practical blended finance approaches and foster dialogue on how collaborative action can help ensure a just and inclusive maritime transition for Pacific SIDS.
